Overview: Designed for professionals engaged in institutional philanthropy within Israel, "Philanthropy 101" offers an enriching exploration of this multifaceted field. Rooted in culture, time, and place, philanthropy intertwines with society, economics, and politics, evoking both curiosity and criticism. This course delves into its complexities, examining topical, legal, and ethical dimensions, with a special emphasis on philanthropy's response to the extraordinary challenges in the wake of the war.

Course Content: Covering a spectrum of themes, the course illuminates the diverse roles of philanthropy, both globally and within Israel. Participants will explore how philanthropy contributes to democratic societies by fostering public goods alongside governmental institutions. Additionally, the course scrutinizes the Israeli government's relation with philanthropy and how various incorporation models facilitate the realization of philanthropic visions. Topics include empirical data on philanthropy in Israel, tax regulations, relationships with nonprofits, and philanthropy's potential to catalyze political and social change based on differing worldviews.

Target Audience: This course caters to professionals within institutional philanthropy, including foundation employees, endowment trustees, legal and financial advisors, and personnel within family offices. Participants will gain invaluable insights and knowledge applicable to their roles, enhancing their ability to navigate the complexities of the philanthropic landscape.
