Institutional Philanthropy in Israel: Characteristics, Trends, Challenges

This study aims to chart the profile and role of institutional philanthropy in Israel by improving understanding of the main characteristics, modes of action, and guiding perceptions of philanthropic foundations and their impact on the socio-economic spheres. One of the study’s main goals is to characterize the vision and practices of diverse types of private institutional giving and philanthropic entities in Israel. Seeking to outline the wider socio-political and cultural implications of institutional philanthropy. The findings are based on a questionnaire to which about 60 foundations operating in Israel responded.

This study was conducted by Dr. Noa Krauz-Lahav of ILP and is part of a pioneering effort of international collaboration — The Global Philanthropy Report (GPR) led by The Hauser Institute for Civil Society at the Harvard Kennedy School.
